Instructions
Play through this interactive game to learn about Multiply One Digit Numbers By Multiples Of 10. Suitable for Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5.
Main Concepts
Use place value knowledge of 10’s to be able to decompose a two digit 10’s number with 0 ones into a digit times 10 (80 = 8 x 10).
When multiplying a single digit by a multiple of 10 it can be interpreted as a group of tens, i.e. 4 x 30 is interpreted as 4 groups of 3 tens or 12 tens which is 120.
Apply the Associative property to interpret groups of 10’s as a product, i.e. 4 x 30 = 4 x (3 x 10) = (4 x 3) x 10 = 12 x 10 = 120.
