Play through this interactive game to learn about Solve 2-Step Word Problems. Suitable for Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5.

Main Concepts

Represent problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity.
Multiplication and division with an unknown is not expressed as a coefficient. Use the symbols for operations x and / between number and variable.
Addition and Subtraction within 1000.
Problems will include one step of addition or subtraction and one of multiplication of division.
Parenthesis are included to provide mathematical structure.
Must do the operation inside the parenthesis before an operation outside the parenthesis.
If multiplication or division is written next to an addition or subtraction, imagine parenthesis around the multiplication or division.
Problems can involve multiple representations and solution. (c x 4 + (6 - 2) x 2 = c x 4 + 4 x 2 = c x 4 + 8)
