Discussion Questions

Before the Game

Brainstorm a list of shapes that you know - draw and label an example of each. Are all squares the same? How can they be different and how are they similar? What is a diameter? How many parallel sides does a square have? What are the properties of a trapezoid? What is a parallelogram?

After the Game

What three shapes presented in this game are all in the Parallelogram family of shapes? Were there any shapes presented in the game that you did not think of when you brainstormed shapes during the pre-game questions? Create a chart showing how groups of shapes are related. How many sides does a circle have? You matched shapes in this game, do all the shapes have to look the exact same to have the same properties? Why are squares and rectangles parallelograms? What is the difference between pentagons, hexagons, and octagons?
