State of matter is an extrinsic property of matter that depends on conditions such as temperature and pressure.
Minerals and crystals have a crystalline structure.
In an amorphous solid, the atoms and molecules do not form an orderly repeating pattern.
In a solid, particles of matter vibrate in place and do not move relative to each other.
In a solid, particles of matter are closely spaced.
In a liquid, particles of matter move relative to one another but remain in contact.
In a gas, particles of matter move relative to one another and do not remain in contact.
In a crystalline solid, the atoms and molecules form regular, repeating patterns.
Atoms and molecules are in constant motion.
All matter is made of one or more types of atoms.
A solid maintains its shape and volume.
A liquid maintains its volume, but flows to take the shape of its container.(MS)
