Instructions

Play through this interactive game to learn about Opposite Signs On The Same Number. Suitable for Grade 6, Grade 7, Grade 8.

Main Concepts

Number line is extended to the left of the number line to include negative numbers.
The opposite of 0 is 0.
A Number with opposite signs (+x, -x) is equidistant from 0 on the number line in opposite directions (-4 and 4 are equidistant from 0 on the number line in opposite directions, positive to the right and negative to the left.
The opposite of the opposite of a number is the number itself (the opposite of 3 is negative 3 and the opposite of negative 3 is 3).
Recognize 0 as neither negative or positive. Zero has no value and can be used as a measuring point for value (less value the further left from 0 and more value the further right from 0).
