Main Concepts

Decimal fractions can be converted into decimal notation by using the denominator to indicate where the decimal will be for the numerator (4/100 = .04, 4/10 = .4).

Fractions with a denominator of 10 or 100 are called decimal fractions.

The number of digits to the right of the decimal point indicates the number of zeros in the denominator (3.40 = 340/100 and 3.4 = 34/10)

Use measurements within base 10 (cm, m) to express fractions in decimal notation (3/10 m = .3m)

Write decimal numbers shown in grids (limited to tenths and hundredths grids).
