Play through this interactive game to learn about Understand Place Value. Suitable for Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5.

Main Concepts

Dividing by 10 moves the multiplicand one place to the left.
In the base 10 system, the value of each place is 10 times the value of the place to the immediate right.
In the base 10 system, the value of each place is 1/10 the value of the place to the immediate left.
Multiplying by 10 moves the multiplicand one place to theright. If it is a single digit number then the imagined 0’s are placed in the ones place.
Use visuals with 1/10th partitioned squares and 1/100 partitioned square models.
One tenth and one hundredth refer to that fraction of one whole not the entire number (if greater than 1).
10 tens = 1 hundred but 10 tenths does not equal one hundredth (common misconception).
