Instructions

Play through this interactive game to learn about Linear Geometry. Suitable for Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5.

Main Concepts

Draw parallel lines.
Identify parallel lines in two dimensional figures.
Construct shapes with acute, obtuse and right angles (Triangles).
Identify right, acute and obtuse angles in two dimensional figures.
An angle is the union of two rays, a and b, with the same initial point P named the vertex. The rays can be made to coincide by rotating one to the other about P; this rotation determines the size of the angle between a and b. Angles are named using 3 points where the point in the middle is the vertex (<ABC or <CBA where point B is the vertex and points A and C are on the two arms of the angle).
Identify line segments in two dimensional figures.
Identify lines in two dimensional figures.
Identify rays in two dimensional figures.
Identify points in two dimensional figures.

Discussion Questions

Before the Game

What are coordinates? How do we express coordinates? What do the coordinate numbers represent? What are shapes made of? When does a line end?

After the Game

How can coordinates be used in the real world? Why is it important for us to know about and understand the Cartesian coordinate system? When two rays meet what do they form? How do you know if an angle is obtuse?
